A WIN-WIN SOLUTION FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED

Planners can already guarantee that the complete ventilation system meets the requirements of the standards for tightness when MEZ-AEROSEAL issues a tender. At the same time, the leak test of EN 12599 is considerably simplified.

Air duct manufacturers who can prove that they meet the tightness requirements of DIN EN 1507 or DIN EN 12237 through their operational quality assurance and through the use of high-quality manufacturing products in production, no longer have to deal with defects caused by the installation process.

Plant constructors can easily meet and prove the required tightness class during the installation of a plant. Costly reworking or the processing of defects is no longer necessary.

Operators and users benefit from optimal, energy-saving and efficient operation of the system.

MEZ-AEROSEAL provides facility managers and energy efficiency consultants with a simple and effective method of optimizing leaking air ducts in existing buildings and reducing energy costs.

ADVANTAGE 1 - QUICKNESS

The MEZ-AEROSEAL procedure enables extremely fast project completion, as no long-term construction work is required for the application. The affected building or sections of buildings (e.g. existing hotels) can be used again immediately.

An average of 5 pipe strands can be sealed per day or up to around 600 m pipe length or approx. 2,700 m2 pipe surface.

When sealing in the course of the construction of a new plant, the section-by-section application and logging guarantees that the required air-tightness class is met for the entire system, thus ruling out the possibility of the project being delayed due to subsequent improvements. For the application of MEZ-AEROSEAL a team of 1 to 2 service technicians is sufficient.

ADVANTAGE 2 - INCREASE IN COMFORT AND HYGIENE

• The loss of heat or cold due to leaking air pipes is minimized
• An even distribution of pre-treated air in the building is guaranteed
• Noise development due to leaks is a thing of the past
• Odour nuisance due to leaks in the air pipe is eliminated
• The overall hygiene of the room air is improved

ADVANTAGE 3 - DOCUMENTATION

Before and after sealing with MEZ-AEROSEAL, the total leakage of the air duct system concerned is determined and recorded in a certificate which the customer receives after sealing. The achieved reduction of the leakage is also shown here.

MEZ-AEROSEAL therefore reduces the leakage of air conduction systems by an average of 90% in a very short time.

ADVANTAGE 4 - ENERGY EFFICIENCY

The average leakage of air duct systems in Europe is 15 - 30%. If the air tightness class of the air control system is unknown, 15% leakage (ATC 6) must be expected in accordance with EN 16798 Part 3, even with air tightness class A (ATC 5) it is still around 6% of the volume flow.

This results in an energy saving potential of up to 50% on the required fan energy. In addition, there is also considerable potential for savings in heating and cooling energy. In buildings with a high air exchange rate, such as hospitals, pharmaceutical industry, hotels or high-quality offices, the sealing pays for itself in a very short time, in some cases even within one year.

Example to illustrate the theoretical relationships between SFP, air leakage rate and the power requirement of a fan.

The power requirement of the fan increases in relation to the air leakage rate by a factor of 3. If, for example, the air leakage rate only reduces from air tightness class A to B by approx. 4%, the power requirement of the fan already decreases by 12.2%. The specific fan output SFP and thus the required energy can thus be significantly reduced through reduced leakage and the requirements according to EN 16798-3 can be met.
